All About Hydrogen for Businesses
Before investing in a Li-ion battery or a polluting and noisy diesel generator for backup power, contact us to find out how you can have a hydrogen battery tailored to your backup power requirements – with up to 3 times the life of a Li-ion battery. Whether it’s remote installations, data or communications centre, government building, or for any other purpose, we can help from the design phase through installation, commissioning, and support for years to come.
H2Commercial can supply, install, and service commercial renewable hydrogen technologies. We can help with power-to-power, gas-to-power, backup power, green hydrogen batteries, and hydrogen-to-electric generators. H2Commercial also provides support services for hydrogen equipment manufacturers, suppliers and others offering support services. Contact us to talk about how we can help your hydrogen business grow.
What is a Commercial Hydrogen Battery?
A hydrogen battery can combine an electrolyser – that uses electricity and water to produce hydrogen gas (H2), to a means of storage for the H2 produced, and a fuel cell that combines the H2 with O2 in the air to make electricity when needed. The only by-product is heat and water. A complete hydrogen battery system can be designed to suit any energy source and end-use requirements.
Commercial hydrogen batteries may also be known as hydrogen backup power systems, gas to power systems, power to power systems and hydrogen electric generators.
They can provide backup power from 1.7kWh to megawatt scale stationary power generation systems. Hydrogen batteries, that include an electrolyser, can be coupled to existing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and wind turbines to produce, store and return green energy when required for manufacturing, retail, hospitality, scientific, military and other commercial purposes. Hydrogen batteries can provide almost unlimited energy storage capacity.
Hydrogen batteries can provide backup power for energy security in metropolitan areas and the in the remotest of locations. Hydrogen batteries, that include an electrolyser, will also compliment spinning reserve requirements and reduce waste from mining and other industrial applications.
The major manufacturers of hydrogen batteries for commercial use are Ballard Power Systems, Cummins New Power, formerly known as Hydrogenics. Their backup power systems range from 1.7kWh to megawatt scale stationary power generation systems.
